Estos días atrás ha salido un nuevo accesorio para la consola Nintendo DS para jugar al popular juego Guitar Hero. Para anunciarlo por televisión, como sintonía han utilizado esta canción que os muestro hoy. Es “Breed”, de Nirvana, incluida en el disco que dio a conocer al gran público a este grupo americano, Nevermind.

También he puesto esta canción con motivo de la visita de mi amigo Nacho, estos días en Ribera por motivo de las fiestas del Emigrante. Nacho es un auténtico seguidor de la música de Nirvana desde hace muchos años.

Nueva entrega de Alien Breed para el próximo año

Hace ya 17 años aparecía Alien Breed para el extinto Commodore Amiga. Los afortunados possedores de semejante máquina pudimos disfrutar de este juegazo que combinaba una ambientación basada en las películas de Alien con una jugabilidad muy al estilo Gauntlet, es decir, acción incesante en perspectiva cenital.

Tras tres fantásticas entregas en 2D que dejaron huella en los corazones jugones de muchos de nosotros (y dos algo menos afortunadas en 3D que pasaron sin pena ni gloria), Team 17 han anunciado que van a resucitar la franquicia en forma de título descargable, lo cual parece indicar que las plataformas más probables serán Xbox 360, PS3 y PC.

Aún no hay fecha de salida, ni siquiera imágenes del juego, sólo el logo que veis, pero os mantendremos informados.

Breed Magazine es una revista online hecha en Flash que trata temas relacionados con el arte y la moda, música e ideas… Está desarrollada con un software para crear revistas en línea basadas en Flash, bastante visual pero, a su vez bastante pesada… Breed Magazin 8. Revista de arte y moda, música y más en línea Esta revista digital es una interesante y motivadora idea de trabajo editorial y visual, me gusta mucho, aunque prefiero la idea de disponer siempre de una versión descargable en PDF, tal como hicieron en su primer numero (sólo este puedes descargarlo)… Su proyecto es muy interesante e incluso hablé aquí sobre la Revista Breed no. 7, libertad creativa… No apoyo mucho la utilización de Flash para diseño editorial de una revista digital, mucho menos si no dispone de una base en Pdf para descargar, pero esta revista es buena… Revista Breed no. 8 / Sitio oficial de revista digital

Breed 77 - Metal desde Gibraltar

Breed 77 es una banda de Metal originaria de Gibraltar que fusiona ritmos de Metal, Rock y Flamenco.

Actualmente trabajan bajo la firma Pagana Records y se encuentran en la gira de Mago de Oz por México abriendo sus conciertos.

Aunque nunca había escuchado de ellos debo decir que suenan bastante bien y que inclusive ya me he hecho de un par de favoritas.

Paul Isola, Danny Felice y Stuart Cavilla se reunieron en Londres para formar la banda Gibraltaria Mafia, para después llamarse Breed que tuvo que cambiar de nuevo a Breed 77 debido a que Steve Hewitt de Placebo ya habia registrado Breed como nombre de su empresa discográfica.

La banda a tenido varios cambios a lo largo de su trayectoria integrantes que han ido y venido desde sus inicios en 1996. Algo muy agradable de la banda es que suenan muy bien tanto en Ingles como en Español, ambas idiomas los dominan muy bien y con sus riffs hacen vibrar el escenario.

Are you looking for a new member to the family? If you are, you may find the Kuvasz dog breed to be very acceptable as a companion. They have long been known as working dogs because of their protective nature. If you are looking for a dog breed that will be a great companion and see to your safety you will do no better than the Kuvasz.

The Kuvasz dog breed is a larger dog. The males are usually 28- 30 inches and 110- 115 pounds. The female dogs are 26- 28 inches and 70- 90 pounds. The Kuvasz is one of the only dogs that do not have a wide ranged of colors. This dog will only be found in white as a purebred. If you have a dog that is considered a Kuvasz, but a mix in color or other colors you do not have a purebred Kuvasz. Their coat is coarse with a soft undercoat. They can have wavy or straight hair depending on their parents.

For temperament you will find they are suspicious of strangers, which can make them aggressive or shy depending on their nature. You will find them to be obedient, protective, and gentle. However you should realize training is going to help make the difference in whether this dog breed is right for your family. They tend to be particular for families. While they can be affectionate for the right family sometimes they just don’t fit well. You should spend extensive time with the Kuvasz puppy you are looking to adopt to make sure you and your family will fit nicely with them.

Training is also going to be a very important part of the puppy and adult dog life. You have to socialize them early on to take care of the shy or aggressive behavior. A failure to do so may make them aggressive towards strangers and not fitting for the neighborhood with kids. They are easy to train because of their intelligence. They also tend to be obedient, but you need a firm hand, and you must be sensitive with your tone of voice. They don’t respond well to anger, impatience, or a heavy tone. You will also find because of their nature they have been wonderful herders in the past as well as watchdogs. If you are in need of a working dog you will find training them can be relatively easy for that.

Training will also need to be kept up as adults as part of their exercise. They need to have daily exercise even if it is just a walk or a run around a park. You should have plenty of entertainment for during the day including a large backyard and toys. They tend to be destructive when left alone for too long. They need human companionship, just as we need them so keep in mind a family with two working parents may not be the best or ideal situation.

Care is also very important, and not just the regular exercise, and feeding. You will need to groom them on a daily basis. They need to have their overcoat and under coat attended to. You will find they will also shed less and be cleaner with constant grooming. You should need to bathe them regularly. They do best in colder climates, but can handle a warmer area. Keep in mind the shedding will increase in a warmer climate. The Kuvasz dog breed is one of the best for protective nature. You may find this is not conducive to families with small children or those who work long hours every day. Keep in mind your dog is apart of the family and needs attention too.

All dogs were originally wild, and all descend from the wolf, adapting to the
climate and terrain where they lived, but man found that they could also be friendly, used for tasks in their life and guard their dwellings. This was so pretty much all over the world, and therefore different types of dogs emerged as bred for their environment and habits. Some were used in the hunt, some to drive livestock and some to guard the home.

Whilst it is undoubtedly the case that nearly all European dogs descend from either the Talbert, the Mastiff or the Griffon hound, careful selection of breeding throughout the ages, along with out-breeding with foreign strains, have given us what we have today. Looking at any breed of dog it does not take much thought to trace back its ancestry. It is the same in the USA as elsewhere, mainly because many settlers and the subsequent population brought many types of dogs from Europe with them, many of whom interbred with the indigenous population.

The Talbert and the Mastiff still live today. The Mastiff as a more graceful survivor of its predecessors whose job was primarily to kill predators of their master’s herds as well as his household and its servants. The Talbert, on the other hand was the hunting animal, similar to a bloodhound with a pointed nose, and was kept for hunting, as well as its ‘voice’ to warn of intruders at home. It had great scenting ability to track game, and indeed otterhounds were bred from this and the Griffon.The Griffon was a bit smaller, and long-haired rather than short. If you think of an Airedale Terrier, but even more ferocious-looking, with wider shoulders you may get the idea. ‘Don’t mess with me’. Most terriers have evolved from this ancient animal, but have, of course been bred smaller so that they were able to get into fox, otter and badger holts. They are the ‘fighting’ breed of dogs, and were used as such for thousands of years.

5000 years ago the Egyptian pharaoh-hounds were bred for their sleek looks, ferocity and hunting ability. Scottish deerhounds (who stand at 30” and more for dogs) and were only allowed to be kept by Lairds, trace their lineage back 2000years, the Irish wolfhound being very similar, the Tibetan terrier and the Chinese chow, the Afghan ‘gazelle’ hound and the Saluki all have an ancient lineage, and you can see today their progeny, all being very similar to their ancestors.

Over the last few hundred years a lot of new breeds have been developed from crosses of the original breeds. Initially this was done mainly to improve working strains by out-crossing to other useful breeds. Hunting hounds were bred bigger and smaller. Sheep and cattle dogs were improved. With the advent of gunpowder and shooting specialist dogs were bred for different purposes, some to retrieve and some to flush out game in different types of country.

Many households took to owning ‘pet’ dogs, some to guard the house and other smaller ones to sit on ladies laps. There are now hundreds of recognised breeds, and of course breeders.

Most dog breeders tend to specialise in one breed, although occasionally they may have two or three if they are a large establishment. Of course the larger the breed of dog the more space that has to be available.

Many breeders are very reputable. They will only use the best breeding stock, they will "vet" the potential owner and give him copious instructions about how to look after the little bundle of fur which may be two feet taller in 6 months time, or only a few inches for smaller breeds. This is the sort of breeder who you are likely to get a good, reliable dog from, already inoculated and a pleasure to own.

Unfortunately there are many rather unscrupulous breeders around too. False pedigrees (if you are looking for a pedigree dog) are common place. If you are looking for just a family pet do look at both parents if you possibly can to see what size it will grow into. Another good guide is to look at the puppy’s feet. It will grow into them, so a “terrier” pup with enormous feet may actually grow to be more substantial than you want.

Quite simple do your homework first. Check out the breeder, go and see them and the hygienic conditions (or not) that the dogs are kept in. There are plenty of places on the internet where you can make initial checks before deciding which breeder looks best.

Don’t hurry your decision. The dog you choose is going to be with you for around 15 years, so a couple of days or weeks are not going to make much difference. Enjoy your dogs.

You can adopt a dog by purchasing a puppy from dog breeders or take one from an animal shelter. Most animal shelters will have varied dog breeds and consists mainly of rescued animals. There's one problem with adopting a dog from an animal shelter: The selection of available dog breeds as pets can be quite overwhelming. After all the fact of the matter is that man's best friend comes in different shapes, sizes, color and personalities.

One of the good things about shelter dog is that they make wonderful pets and lifelong companions for you as well as your family. The bad part is that some of these dogs might not be as good and may be moody and grumpy as well. The key lies in knowing what dog breeds you should look for. Here are some of the things that you should know:

Examine
You need to examine a particular breed on the basis of the fact that whether it can match your lifestyle or not. If you are living alone in a small or compact second-floor apartment then adopting large dog breeds like the German Shepherd Dog or the retrievers will definitely not be the right choice. Alternatively, if you have a family of four and are looking for a pet who can match up to your active lifestyle then retrievers or a GSD will be perfect. The points you need to consider include the size of the dog, friendliness, temperament, exercise requirements, assertiveness, and his compatibility with children.

Different Breeds and Mixes
So how can you find one particular dog from different dog breeds who has the qualities that you are looking for? The best way to know that is by getting as much information as possible like you can learn about different dog breeds, or visit an animal shelter and speak adoption counselors there for more guidance. Most dogs fall into 2 basic categories: mixed breeds and purebreds. Most of the animal shelters will have plenty of mixed breeds and purebreds. The significant difference between the mixed breeds and purebreds is that purebreds because of their ancestors, parents and history are members of the same breed and display a specific "breed standard." This basically means that if you were to adopt a purebred puppy, then there is a good chance that you will know about what his size will be or particular behavioral characteristics as well as diseases that he might be prone to.

Mixed dog breeds also offer quite a few advantages over purebreds. If you are thinking of adopting a mixed breed, then you can be assured of the combined traits of two or more dog breeds. You will also get a dog whose probability of being free from various genetic defects will be higher as compared to purebred. One of the best things about mixed breeds is that they are considered to be the more "natural" dogs. They make unique companion, offer loyalty and love and can adapt to any environment without too much of a fuss.
