<p><img class="alignnone alignleft" style="float: left;" src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/elespectador/files/images/a79d9b177e.jpg" alt="" width="265" height="176" /></p><br /><br /><p>Los precios del crudo se desplomaron el martes por debajo de 110 dólares el barril, su nivel más bajo en cinco meses, luego que cedieran los temores ante la posibilidad de interrupciones en las operaciones petroleras por el huracán Gustav.</p><br /><br /><p>El crudo liviano de bajo contenido sulfuroso para entrega en octubre bajó 5,75 dólares para cerrar en 109,71 dólares por barril en la Bolsa Mercantil de Nueva York (Nymex). El contrato bajó previamente aún más durante la jornada, alcanzando los 105,46 dólares por barril.</p><br /><br /><p>Se trató de la cotización más baja desde el 4 de abril, justo antes de que el hidrocarburo iniciara una marcha alcista sin precedente que terminó con el barril por encima de los 147 por dólares.</p><br /><br /><p>Virtualmente todas las instalaciones de producción de crudo y gas natural en la costa estadounidense del Golfo de México suspendieron sus operaciones para evaluar posibles daños a las plataformas y oleoductos, dijo el Servicio de Administración de Minerales de Estados Unidos.</p><br /><br /><p><span id="more-636"></span></p><br /><br /><p>Es demasiado pronto para decir cuándo podrían reanudarse las operaciones, pero algunas compañías petroleras se están preparando para reenviar al personal desalojado desde el miércoles.</p><br /><br /><p>Sin daños graves, las instalaciones podrían volver a operar en un día o dos.</p><br /><br /><p>Los operadores también están atentos por el desarrollo de otras tormentas que provienen del Atlántico. La tormenta tropical Hanna podría volver a convertirse en huracán en las próximas horas y tocar tierra en las costas de Georgia y Carolina del Sur más tarde esta semana.</p><br /><br /><p>La tormenta tropical Ike se formó la tarde del lunes en el Atlantico y podría convertirse en huracán antes del jueves mientras se acerca a las Bahamas.</p><br /><br /><p>Entretanto, la tormenta tropical Josephine se formó el martes en el este del Atlantico.
