¿Problemas con Windows Vista SP1? Todos los clientes de Microsoft que usen Windows Vista Service Pack 1 disponen de soporte técnico gratuito para un número consultas ilimitadas siempre y cuando estas estén relacionadas con problemas de incompatibilidad o la instalación del paquete hasta el 18 de marzo de 2009. Este soporte se presta en horario de oficina habitual de cada país y puede tener horarios más cortos para fin de año y los meses de verano.

Las opciones de soporte a las que podemos tener acceso dependiendo del país en que nos encontremos son correo electrónico, chat, teléfono y grupos de noticias. En el caso del soporte telefónico, aunque son varios los países que disponen de un número gratuito como en el caso de México, en España hay que conformarse con un 902 que podemos ‘esquivar’ gracias al número local de Madrid que proporcionan y que si tenemos las llamadas a fijos incluidas en algún paquete como el ADSL nos saldrá gratis.

A unas semanas desde que se lanzó el Service Pack 3 para Windows XP, se comienzan revelar algunos problemas que surgen después de su instalación.

Una vez que se ha instalado el SP3, se pueden presentar conflictos con Norton Internet Security 2008, como por ejemplo que no detecte las conexiones de red, el adminitrador de dispositivos aparece vacío, se crean entradas corruptas en el registro de Windows, etc. Algunos usuarios han reportado que Norton Internet Security simplemente deja de funcionar, y esto se debe a que se invalida la llave de registro.

Los chicos de heise Security han hecho algunas pruebas y han llegado a la conculusión de que no siempre se reproducen estos problemas, por lo que podrían ser casos aislados. No obstante Symantec reconoce el problema, y aunque culpan a Microsoft de ello aseguran que en una próxima actualización lo corregirán.

Seguramente con el paso de la semanas irán saliendo nuevos problemas con el Windows XP Service Pack 3, así que habrá que darle tiempo para que se vayan detectando y poco a poco se resuelvan, aunque con lo que tardó en salir es para que se tuviera mejor controlado.

iPhone owners can now download Palringo’s rich messaging service (RMS) application from Apple’s new App Store. Palringo enables picture messaging, text-based messaging and, soon, vocal instant messaging over the iPhone’s data connection.

Palringo integrates with several existing popular instant-messaging (IM) services: AOL’s AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Gadu Gadu, ICQ, Jabber and Windows Live Messenger. People can also use Palringo to contact their friends using iChat, Apple’s IM client.

Palringo offers two unique advantages to iPhone owners:


· People can stay connected to the most popular messaging services at the same time, without the need to switch between applications or use Web-based messaging services.


· In the current absence of multi-media messaging service (MMS) capabilities on the 3G iPhone, Palringo offers the ability to send and receive picture messages using the iPhone’s data connection.

Palringo launches and connects within seconds, with a single screen tap. Palringo then presents a person’s IM contacts in a single, combined, presence-aware list, whichever IM service their contacts are using. Sending a voice, picture or text-based message, whether to an individual or a group, are also single screen-tap operations.

Vocal IM, which is already available on all other Palringo-supported platforms, will be added in the second release of Palringo for the iPhone.

Palringo CEO Kerry Ritz said: “Just as Apple has changed people’s view of what it should be like to use a mobile phone, so Palringo aims to change the way people see messaging. Billions of people already use instant messaging on their home or work computers to communicate with each other. Using Palringo will barely make a dent in an iPhone customer’s data usage: Just one megabyte is sufficient for Palringo to send/receive the equivalent of about 4,500 SMS messages, send/receive about 32 picture messages or send/receive as much as 15 minutes of vocal instant messages.

The service is available worldwide, which means conversations can incorporate people from across the globe, on any mobile network or connected PC or Mac. This makes it very attractive for multi-national corporate users or extended family use.

Microsoft and Apple have been fighting each other for the public perception in the Innovation Space, Apple has been in the front, putting together ideas and services faster than Microsoft and solutions that work as advertised. In the other hand, Microsoft has been showing and promising excellent costumers and business solutions, but some of them failed to passionate the developers. Take .Net for example, take Windows Vista, Take Windows Live Search Books, to name a few of them. Microsoft promises, Apple delivers.

Live Mesh in the Cloud





This past April, Microsoft demonstrated Live Mesh, a cloud storage service that allows files and folders to be shared and synchronized across multiple devices. Once a folder is set for synchronization, it will be available in all devices, and any changes made to the content of the folder will be reflected across all devices. Live Mesh uses FeedSync to convey the changes made in each device so that the changes can be synchronized. The information about devices and folders participating in a synchronization relationship is not stored locally but at the service-end. While Microsoft demonstrated Live Mesh on April their service will be available later this year and will be only available for Windows PC, other platforms and mobiles devices will be added later. Live Mesh comes with a 5GB storage, Live Mesh is totally free.

Live Mesh is an open platform that will lets developers create solutions around it, this is an advantage, but at the same time its openness hurts costumers with millions of spams, virus or any other thread.

Mobileme is said to be up and running today and can be accessed from Mac and Windows computers with any browser, this technology is ready to use with your iphone and ipod touch too and there is not news about support for other mobile devices. Mobileme is a subscription based service with a price of $99 a year for indivual use with a 20GB of combined email and file storage, 200GB of monthly bandwidth and $149 for a Family Pack (4 members) with 5GB of combined email and file storage, and 50GB of monthly data transfer for each member.

Third parties support is unknown and virus or any thread is under Apple control, but the price could be a roadblock for some mac users that were expecting a cheaper price for the service.

Tungle, the free business-class meeting co-ordination service that eliminates the wasted time and frustration of scheduling meetings among many busy people, continues to increase its network of users with the release of it new interface for iPhone™ users. Apple has so far sold 5.4 million iPhones worldwide, based on data from the end of Apple’s fiscal second quarter, which ended in March.

Tungle is a Microsoft Outlook plug-in that empowers users to coordinate meetings with anyone, across platforms – including iCal, Google Calendar, Lotus Notes, the BlackBerry and now the iPhone – as well as across organizations, time zones and even individuals not using Tungle.

“Smart phone users have demanded a rich interface, real-time information and easy access to their busy calendars.” says Marc Gingras, Tungle CEO. “Tungle is a great fit for this audience. The Tungle Beta Pilot
A free service, Tungle has been in open beta since April 16, 2008. Anyone who wants to start using Tungle, including the BlackBerry service, can simply visit www.tungle.com to download. The recently launched Tungle Outlook plug-in takes less than 30 seconds to install. It automatically synchronizes with users’ Outlook address books and calendars, eliminating any configuration or complicated setup. This information is kept secure and locally on the user’s machine, and is not uploaded or shared with anyone else or with Tungle. Its IM-like user interface makes it easy for users to understand and to start using within seconds.

Flextronics, a valued Cisco partner and global leading Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider for Cisco and OEMs, is looking to the Cisco Context-Aware Mobility solution to track Cisco’s capital assets as a service at its global manufacturing sites. In Austin, Texas, the company tracks high-value assets like thermal chambers and testing equipment used to manufacture products, enabling it to account for Cisco capital equipment and easily locate it in real-time.

“We need to locate customers’ assets immediately throughout our large facility in real time and conduct regular inventory checks, regardless of location in the manufacturing process. Cisco Adaptive Wireless IPS is a new intrusion-prevention system that delivers the feature depth of an overlay solution with the full benefits of an integrated solution. It integrates wireless threat detection, mitigation, vulnerability scanning and performance monitoring into the wireless network. It assists in protecting against rogue access points and clients, wireless hacking and day-zero threats. RF spectrum analysis provides self-healing protection. Proactive prevention includes automated vulnerability analysis, management frame protection and infrastructure authentication. Purpose-built collaboration between wired and wireless intrusion prevention helps provide full protection (Layers 1 to 7) by detecting inappropriate network activity or malware spawned by wireless clients. The Cisco MSE centrally processes, analyzes and correlates events from the Adaptive Wireless IPS monitors, providing broad mobility threat protection.

The final announced MSE software product, Cisco Secure Client Manager, centralizes the security and management of provisioning various mobile devices via the Cisco Secure Services Client 802.1X solution over wired, Wi-Fi, cellular and other wireless networks. It addresses one challenge faced by IT: managing the connectivity and security of Wi-Fi and other mobile devices. The MSE’s open API enables integration with third-party device management software and solutions.

Availability
The Cisco 3350 Mobility Services Engine is scheduled to begin shipping in June 2008 with prices beginning at $19,995 USD. The Cisco Context-Aware Software is scheduled to begin shipping in June 2008. The Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software Release 5.1 ships in May 2008, and includes critical new mobility features, as well as support for the Motion architectural approach. Both the Cisco Adaptive Wireless IPS Software and Cisco Mobile Intelligent Roaming Software are scheduled to ship in the second half of 2008, and the Cisco Secure Client Manager Software is scheduled to ship in the first half of 2009.

US Postal Service (USPS), a pesar de las medidas de contención de gastos, ha finalizado el segundo cuatrimestre del año con unas pérdidas de 707 millones de dólares (450 millones de euros). Estas pérdidas están debidas principalmente al descenso de la cantidad de cartas enviadas resultado de la crisis financiera y por la pérdida de adeptos en el correo tradicional a favor de Internet.

Por otra parte Royal Mail ha admitido que distribuyen 3 millones de cartas diarias menos que hace un año por lo que lleva unas pérdidas acumuladas de 200 millones de libras (250 millones de euros) este año. Los motivos son la competencia del sector privado e Internet.

Pitney Bowes, una de las empresas más importantes de suministro de tecnologías innovadoras para la gestión del correo y la manipulación de documentos, ha pasado a la acción publicitaria. Sus campañas ya no se centran en cómo ganar cuota de mercado sino en que el correo tradicional gane adeptos.

Será interesante ver que pasa con este sector empresarial y ver si se adapta y cómo lo hace en esta transición hacia la era digital. En este sentido, será interesante la Post-Expo 2008 que se celebrará en Londres del 30 de Setiembre al 2 de Octubre de este año.

si ya instalaste el service pack 3 para windows xp y te topaste con que no puedes utilizar temas después de instalarlo entonces sigue los siguientes pasos para poder instalar temas en windows xp sp 3.

Parchear windows xp service pack 3

*Ojo lo siguiente se realiza únicamente para usuarios que tengan windows xp service pack 3 y no hayan parchado su sistema. Si ya parchaste el uxtheme.dll entonces pasa al paso “instalar temas en windows xp service pack 3”

Forma automática


Pueden parchar el windows xp service pack 3 automáticamente solamente descargando el UXTheme patcher para windows xp sp 3, ejecutarlo y presionar “patch“. [Descargar]

Si no les funciona (a mi no me funcionó) les recomiendo realizarlo de la forma manual que explicamos a continuación.

Forma Manual

1 .- Descargar el archivo uxtheme.dll para windows xp service pack 3 y descomprimirlo [Descargar]


2 .- Descargar el programa Replacer y descomprimirlo [Descargar]


3.- Abrir la carpeta C:\Windows\System32\


4.- Ejecutar el programa Replacer

5.- Al ejecutar el replacer te pedirá que arrastres el archivo de sistema que deseas reemplazar, en este caso nos vamos a la carpeta previamente abierta (C:\Windows\System32\) y localizamos el archivo uxtheme.dll lo seleccionamos y arrastramos hacia la pantalla del replacer y presionamos enter.

6.- Luego el programa replacer nos pregunta cual es el archivo con el cual queremos reemplazarlo asi que accedemos a la carpeta del uxtheme para service pack 3 que descargamos.


Seleccionamos el archivo uxtheme.dll lo arrastramos hacia la pantalla del replacer y presionamos enter.

Solo resta esperar a que se haga el proceso de reemplazo y luego te pedirá reiniciar.


Después de reiniciar el sistema ya podremos instalar temas windows xp.

Instalar temas windows xp con service pack 3

1.- Descargar el tema windows


2.- Descomprimirmirlo


3.- Copiar la carpeta del tema (la que incluye el archivo .msstyles o Archivo de estilo visual de windows) a C:\Windows\Resources\themes\

4.- Acceder a la carpeta que copiamos


5.- Dar doble click sobre el archivo “.msstyles”.

6.- Esto abrirá la pantalla de propiedades de pantalla. Únicamente seleccionamos el estilo nuevo y damos click en aplicar.

Siguiendo estos pasos ya podremos disfrutar de cualquiera de los temas windows xp que hemos publicado en WebAdictos. Espero haber resuelto todas sus dudas.
