I was taking a bath with my 20-month-old yesterday afternoon and it occurred to me why God loves children so much. Over and over, I watched my little one pour cupful after cupful of water into a bucket, only to see the bucket start to sink down, at which point she'd empty it and repeat the task. Eighteen times or more she must've done this, observing intently the action that took place each and every time. Surprisingly, this little show didn't bore me. Quite the contrary. I was delighted to soak up the time, knowing that she's learning and growing, one cupful at a time.
